Getting Older

It's that time of year again.
I turn old.
That means it's also time to experiment with cupcake colors.
Every year for my birthday I make cupcakes, except last year because last year was....lame.
And every year I like to try something new, usually I experiment with color or decorating technique.
This year I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland, which I've seen by the way.  It was tres awesome.

Tonight is also the Academy Awards.  I haven't had a chance to sit down and think of what trends will be on the red carpet this year, like I did last year.
Maybe some one shoulder action?
Hmm.
For some reason feathers just popped into my head.  If I see feathers tonight and I mean feathers then I'll be happy, not that I like feathers but I like being able to predict.
I almost have my ballot filled out.  I wish I would've seen The Hurt Locker and Crazy Heart....and Up and The Princess and The Frog.
But what can you do.
Have and excellent Oscar night =)
I'm getting dressed up in a bit and I'm excited.
Darn, I should've made an Oscar cake.

Cupcake Mishap

Are you going to take a trip down the rabbit hole this weekend?
I sure am.

In atttempt to get into the Alice in Wonderland spirit tonight, I attempted to make cupcakes.

When I say attempt that usually means I A)Made a mess (inevitable) or B) Totally screwed up.

I make my cupcakes from the box, but do homemade icing.
You think making cupcakes from a box would be easy, right?
Oh, we are so wrong.
Once I made them and then came out all deflated and wrinkled.  Weird, I thought.  Then I accidently dropped one on the floor, it completed flattened.  So I dropped another.
What did I do wrong?  I checked the box....
I had forgotten the eggs.

This time, my friends I remembered the eggs!
But, alas I forgot about the cupcakes completely while they were baking.  An hour in the oven for cupcakes is not a good thing.
Proof:

You see those ugly green rock-like things?  Those were a beautiful bright Alice in Wonderland (Disney Cartoon) dress colored blue.

Seriously.

Music Makes Me Happy

Holy crow, I just realized the "Alice in Wonderland" soundtrack was released today.  Ooo oddly I like "Tea Party" by Kerli.  Not usually my genre.  "Always Running Out of Time" by Motion City Soundtrack is not bad either.  Liking "Fell Down A Hole" by Wolfmother.  I think Regina Spektor would've fit this soundtrack. I love "Alice's Theme" by Danny Elfman, seriously awesome stuff.

Lately I haven't been able to stop bouncing around to these songs:

Say Hey (I Love You)- Michael Franti and Spearhead (Thank you Grandma)
Today Was A Fairytale- Taylor Swift
Everyday- Sausalito Foxtrot
Toothpaste Kisses- The Maccabees
Hey Soul Sister- Train
Shout- Donora
Photograph- Donora
Sweet Disposition-The Temper Trap
Here Comes Your Man- Meaghan Smith
Us- Regina Spektor
Your Man-Down With Webster (random choice huh?  It gets pretty annoying after a minute but it gets stuck in my head)

Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?- She & Him

I thought this was kind of funny...is that mean?
