It's Oscar Night!

Well, I didn't keep up with my goal of blogging everyday this week.
But in my defense I was busy going to the gym, running errands and having some fun with friends.
It's Oscar night!
My favorite night of the year.
But it seems every couple of years my birthday or my Mom's lands on Oscar night, or we're celebrating late/early.
Tonight is one of those nights.
So while I get to watch all of the red carpet, I will miss the entire show.
And Billy Crystal is hosting!

So far my favorite dress is Rooney Mara (girl crush!) in Givenchy.
But I also love Michelle Williams dress and Octavia Spencer's.
I'll recap tomorrow as I usually do.

I'm going to take it as a good sign that I start my acting classes the day after The Academy Awards :)
Wish me luck tomorrow!

Customer Encounter

Don't you love being all toasty warm?
As of right now I'm bundled up in bed with the heater on.
Once I leave my domain, I will be in a deep freeze.

Yes I know, this is a miracle (for me at least, lately) 3 blogs in 4 days?!

I had an interesting encounter with a customer this morning.

Scene:
Me cleaning window sills (I'm a janitor, it's what I do)
A small, older man walks into the store just as I'm heading over to the garbage can.
Man says "What happened to all the snow?"
I say "Excuse me?"
Man says "What's your name?"  Looks at my name tag
I say "S...."
Man says "That's an Irish name" (Note: I am not Irish.  At All.)
I say "Ohh."
Man says "Where did all the snow go? Now no one can see me."  He chuckles and gives me an enthusiastic side hug while I laugh along with him.

Strange but enjoyable encounter.

I spent the past 4 days with the boy.
I finally bought a new battery for my car.
Went to Tim Horton's at 11pm at night, which is the most exciting time to be at Tim Horton's by the way.
And that is all.
Oh and I went for dinner for Mom's birthday.
Chicken and feta together? So good.

Confession: I have over 800 photos on my ipod.  I have a tumblr addiction.

Next weekend is my birthday weekend.
I have no idea if I'm going to do anything.  The last time I did, I was turning 21.  I went bowling and then opened presents at Tim Hortons.
Tim Horton's is a part of all holidays/events for me.
All I know is that a) I need to make myself a cake and b) On my actual birthday (Monday) I need to blow out candles.

Do you do anything special for you birthday?
I always needs to blow out candles on my actual birthday, or else the wish doesn't come true....but I always forget to make a wish anyway.

Now to share some yum:

Angel food cake, light cool whip and strawberries.
So easy and so good.

My Oscar ballot.
I have yet to see the fashions, but the show was pretty good :)
I believe I scored 15/24.
Last year I got 16 right.  Next year will be better.
But I must say I am thrilled that Natalie Portman won.

My excited Oscar face.

Have a fantastic week!

Oscar Night

Anna Kendrick was seriously glowing at the Oscars red carpet.

Similar, no?
Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez.

Carey Mulligan looks gorgeous. I haven't seen "An Education" yet, but I want to.

Best actress winner, Sandra Bullock.  I'm still unsure on this look.

Zoe Saldana.
Daring and different? Yes.  Did I like it? Not really.  The bottom is a bit too much for my taste.

How can you not love the next two women:

Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet.
Both look stunning.

Gabourey Sidibe.
How insanely amazing is her Hollywood Fairytale?

Okay so I actually missed most of the red carpet so I am researching as I blog and I fell in love with Cameron Diaz' and Miley Cyrus' dresses:
Molly Ringwald is looking excellent these days.

I think a reoccuring theme tonight was strapless, as for color choice....I wish I would've watch the entire red carpet earlier.
I could tell you what things I didn't really like or who's hair was too high...but why dwell on the negative?

Getting Older

It's that time of year again.
I turn old.
That means it's also time to experiment with cupcake colors.
Every year for my birthday I make cupcakes, except last year because last year was....lame.
And every year I like to try something new, usually I experiment with color or decorating technique.
This year I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland, which I've seen by the way.  It was tres awesome.

Tonight is also the Academy Awards.  I haven't had a chance to sit down and think of what trends will be on the red carpet this year, like I did last year.
Maybe some one shoulder action?
Hmm.
For some reason feathers just popped into my head.  If I see feathers tonight and I mean feathers then I'll be happy, not that I like feathers but I like being able to predict.
I almost have my ballot filled out.  I wish I would've seen The Hurt Locker and Crazy Heart....and Up and The Princess and The Frog.
But what can you do.
Have and excellent Oscar night =)
I'm getting dressed up in a bit and I'm excited.
Darn, I should've made an Oscar cake.
